AVAARC Welding is recruiting self employed journeyman welders to join the mining and heavy duty maintenance department. The position will involve working at remote site, most likely in a camp type living quarters; however, depending on the site, other lodging scenarios may apply, such as hotels and temporary rentals. In some situation successful applicants will be responsible to get themselves to designated marshalling points, or directly to work site depending on location and site.

Successful applicants will report to maintenance department supervision and or project manager for daily task requirements.

Upon arrival to designated work site, successful applicants will be orientated to site to be trainer on site safety regulation, standard operating procedures applicable to work scope and equipped with necessary personal protective equipment. You will also be responsible for providing your own hard hat, boots, high visibility clothing, welding helmet and protective welding clothing such as leather apparel.

Starting wage is $50 per hour and you will be supplied with a work truck, welding machine and consumables to perform tasks. Length of service, work and safety history and experience will be taken into consideration as wages have potential to increase to $55 per hour.


  • Perform various welding applications as it pertains to specific job scopes, such as welding, air arc gouging, torch cutting, fabrication, plasma cutting, fitting.
  • Applicants are required to be versed in SMAW, FCAW, GMAW welding applications
  • Accurately project and determine job scopes and or time frames to be reported to project management.
  • Work safely as outlines by site policy and regulations
  • Maintain AVAARC service truck, welding machine and tooling on a level of planned oil changes for welding machine and daily upkeep of tools and service truck.
  • Required to have the ability to successfully communicate job scopes and hazards to cross shifting crews and or management of maintenance department
  • Good communication skills
  • 3 years minimum mining or heavy equipment experience
  • CWB certification for all position SMAW/FCAW
